The book focuses on the following research questions: what kind of the Chinese family culture reconstructed, how to reconstruct the Chinese family culture and its influence on China and the English-speaking countries. The research found that with the influence of the social environment during the first half of the 20th century, such major translators as sinologists, foreign journalists, and Chinese writers have reconstructed the Chinese family culture shaped by their chosen Chinese fiction including the ancient and modern Chinese fictions with faithful and rewriting translation strategies. In all, the English translations of Chinese fictions have reproduced, represented, and rewrote the Chinese family culture shaped by the originals.

Ping Li is Associate Professor of translation studies at Qufu Normal University, Shandong, P.Rina, with a dotorate in Translation Theory and Translation Teaching in BFSU. She has published dozens of articles on translation and cultural studies in LANS-TTS, Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages, Foreign Language Research, and so on.
